A rare and early English provincial sterling silver apostle spoon made in Exeter, c.1685, the apostle finial with discoid nimbus, traditionally depicted with a flowing robe and traces of original gilding. 17th century pricked initials 'S.E.' and date '1695' to back of bowl and 18th century scroll engraved presentation initials to back of stem. The ovoid bowl with hallmark found on Exeter plate between 1575 and 1640. Weight 43gms. Length 18.2 cm
