A fine pair of Austrian majolica twin-handled urn-shaped pedestal vases with covers, by Gerbing and Stephan, circa 1885, in rich tones of deep cobalt, buff and tan with sea-green accents, the vases featuring well modelled male caryatid handles, the half-lobed bowls surmounted by bands of stylised foliage and fish scale, raised on a tapered pedestal base decorated with radiating acanthus and ringed panels, the domed covers encrusted with shells and clusters of fruit and surmounted by an acanthus fruit finial, impressed and marks to base 'G& St.//3083'
