Superb, important bronze group. The Arabian Falconer on horseback, signed P. J. Mene on base. Intimately detailed, the strength, movement and action of the group is portrayed in the group as one would expect from possibly the best French Animalier. The bronze is supported on a matching green carrara marble revolving pedestal. The group is mounted on a bronze base 53 x 24 cm. And is 66 cm. High. Pierre Jules Mene (1810-1871) born in Paris, his reputation as an animaleer is unsurpassed. He began producing work in 1838, had exhibitions in England and France, won awards in 1848, 1852, and 1861.
