A 19th century Solomon Islands hardwood paddle, the handle broken with one side absent, the other with stylised head terminal, wearing a domed helmet, mother-of-pearl inlaid highlights, the plain shaft with single knop towards the handle, the spatulate blade tapering to a point, good dark colour and patina. Length 135.5 cm
