Description:
Antique Chinese armorial porcelain platter of oblong octagonal shape, decorated with arrow bands, the arms of Bruce. Motto 'Fac bene ne dubitas,' c. 1785. Wear to enamels. Note; Howards Chinese armorial porcelain, volume 1, page 665, illustrates two pieces with similar armorials, but misspelled motto (fac bene ne duettas), in the Metropolitan Museum, New York . The motto correctly translates as 'We do not hesitate'. 28.7 x 20.5 cm.
