Description:
Top quality antique Japanese porcelain perfume lamp with gilded bronze ormolu mounts, wired for electricity, and decorated with a green dragon and phoenix on a bright yellow ground. Early 20th century. Good condition. Needs new bulb plus internal clean and wiring will need to be checked. Note: the porcelain is almost unquestionably by Fukagawa, but we have not attempted to remove the bronze base to verify the mark. A jar and bowl of almost identical design is illustrated in the Fukagawa catalogue, reproduced by Nancy Schiffer in Japanese porcelain, 1800–1950. Height 20 cm.
