Massive museum quality antique Japanese Imari punch bowl decorated floral panels in the traditional enamel colours of iron red, green and gold, with underglaze blue. Lavishly gilded bronze (French?) ormolu handles and rim, together with a four legged base bearing fierce demon heads. Both rim and base are attached to the porcelain, so the rim and underside of the bowl are not visible. Edo period, c. 1800-1850, or earlier. Handle to handle 48.5 cm. Some expected signs of wear and use. Diameter 31 cm (approx)
