Hand Carved 16th Century Violin Case. Bas relief carving of winged cherub, crown, vines and the logo in circle seen on many examples of early violin labels. Carved from one piece of wood which seems to have been hollowed out including the wonderful knot hole. Original hand forged hinges and hasp, and a lighter wood binding around top fastened with hand made pegs. A must for the serious musical instrument collector. Remarkable condition given it's age
