Early Chatham Islands patu, extremely rare stone patu in classic Chatham Island form. Flattened ovoid shaped body tapering to flattened tubular shaped handle with possible carving to end. Made from schist this was most likely used to kill seals. Moriori. Classic/Archaic period. Length 29.5 cm. Width 11.5 cm
