A Rare Australian Eucalypt Food Cupboard, Circa 1829 the carcase and doors are of mortice and tenon construction, the doors with hand cut eucalypt straps (latticed), opening to reveal original iron meat hooks and an arrangement of shelves, the lower section of similar construction Prospect Villa (originally called Acacia Cottage), Hamilton,Tasmania was built for James Triffett circa 1824. this cupboard and its companion piece (now in the collection of the National Museum in Canberra) were built into a skillion-roofed extension and fixed with iron pegs into the stone wall. In all probability a skilled artisan working at the property with basic tools under frontier conditions prepared the timber and constructed this cupboard from a eucalypt grown on the property. 145 cm wide, 45 cm deep, 245 cm high
