A 17th Century Stumpwork Picture, English 1660 - 1685 the pale cream satin sewn with a variety of stitches and techniques, a central couple holding hands with onlookers and amongst a proliferation of animals and floral motifs, the right hand corner with a depiction from the Old Testament with Judith, a rich Jewish widow saving the city of Bethulia by seducing and then slaying Holofernes, Nebuchadnezzar's general. Judith is holding the decapitated head and then the Holofernes head is also on a stake outstretched from the castle turret in the left hand top corner in period frame 37 cm by 51 cm
