An Austral Islands ceremonial paddle century 1830. Beautifully & intricately carved by a master carver, with carved anthropomorphic interlocking figures on top of handle. The paddle was not used in the practical sense but used by a high ranking owner most likely from Raivav'. This paddle has come from a United Kingdom vendor whose great great grandfather visited the Austral Islands century 1850.
