Frederick Spofforth, nice pencil signature at base of 'Vanity Fair' print 'The Demon Bowler' (minor horizontal bend, but very desirable), window mounted, overall 31 x 44 cm. An extremely rare signature missing from many advanced collections. (Spofforth, known as 'The Demon Bowler' played 18 Tests for Australia 1876-87, and was the greatest figure in early Australian Test cricket. He took the first Test hat trick in 1878-79, and is best remembered for his courageous 14/90 at the Oval Test in 1882 which enabled Australia to win its first Test in England, and led to the Ashes tradition)
