A Victorian mahogany travelling writing desk used by Bishop Selwyn Archdecan Benjamin Thorton was his secretary and retained the writing desk when Bishop Selwyn died in 1878. Passed by descent to the present owner and in original unrestored condition. The desk has a slope front with hinged double doors and fitted interior for letters, papers and envelopes, inkwell, pen slide and pull up secret compartment. Brass flush handle. Provenance: included.
