A fine and important Australian specimen wood box by August Schramm (act. 1881-1924), Melbourne, circa 1900. Together with the original three original design plans in pencil by the cabinet-maker, one signed A. Schramm Melbourne. with four removable glazed trays with twenty-seven named specimens from Australia and New Zealand and one from Fiji. The base with a secret drawer, stamped A. Schramm, the upper removable tray with a pen rest and three lidded compartments. 28 cm high, 40 cm wide, 26 cm deep. August Schramm is recorded as a cabinet-maker working from 38 Kerr Street, Fitzroy till 1904 where he was registered at 60 Westgarth Street, Fitzroy
