A very rare Imperial Chinese Blue and White Saucer-dish, Chenghua six character mark & of the period (1466-1487). Finely painted in the centre with three clouds, two striding dragons on the outside Restored, 19.7 cm diameter. Provenance: NSW Collection, ex R & V Tregaskis, 1995. Other Notes: There is only one published example of this pattern known from the Chenghua reign. See 'The Emperors Broken China, Reconstructing Chenghua Porcelain', no B60, pp 121. There are however other examples of this same pattern known from other Ming dynasty reigns.
