A Doulton Burslem 'Australian Federation' earthenware jardiniere, by John Slater and Doulton's Australian agent, John Shorter, circa 1900, of typical form with sepia transfer-prints featuring images of Queen Victoria, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York, Lord Hopetoun and Sir Henry Parkes, and garlands of waratah and roses, 26 cm in diameter, 23 cm high. Designed in 1900, it was manufactured as a souvenir of Australia's Federation in 1901.
