A mid 19th century Australian sterling silver claret jug, maker's mark W. Edwards, Melbourne, circa 1850-1860, having a pear-shaped body and an elongated neck, with an upswept handle and hinged lid, the vine leaf and grape decoration applied from the finial encorporated with the handle and swathes part of the body, displaying an armorial to the front and rests on a finely double-beaded rimmed foot, 830grs total silver weight, 35 cm high
