19th century Chinese carved ivory figure of the Bodhisattva Guanyin, the Buddha of compassion. The finely rendered figure portrayed seated in the posture of Royal ease with one arm resting at her side and the other held up with her hand in the Dhamachakra mudra. a halo of flames issues from her back section over her head. The base with Qianlong mark (1736-95) but probably dating from the mid-19th century. Height 27 cm
