Description:
Rare 18th century Chinese armorial lidded sauce tureen with pig's head handles, decorated with floral sprays and a dotted purple ribbon band. Both lid and base each bearing two armorials, with the motto Prorege et Populo (Lord Lieutenant and the people). Howard's Armoral porcelain identifies this armorial as being Basset quartly impaling Coxe quarterly, Ch¦en Lung (Qianlong), c. 1780. Condition - kiln adhesionsand firing spots. Knop on lid restored. Height 11 cm. L. 19.5 cm
