A carved jade group of a goat and kid, both recumbent with legs tucked beneath their bodies, lying side by side, their heads turned over their backs, the goat conjuring from its mouth a sun supported on trailing cloud scrolls, the details well defined in the stone of even whitish tone with faint opaque suffusions 5 cm. Literature: the goat symbolises filial piety, kindness and patience and the subject was popular from the Ming dynasty.
