Model Ship - the Empress of India (England 1890): a highly detailed model of the the Empress of India featuring amazing handcrafted details on both the deck and the hull, combined with very intricate rigging work. Also appears to have been wired for lighting. This large ship measures 1.8m x 1.30m (including stand). The age of the model is unknown however has been one of the centrepieces of the Kryal Castle ship collection for at least 30 years. RMS Empress of India was an ocean liner built in 1890-1891 by Naval Construction & Armament Co., Barrow, England for Canadian Pacific Steamships. The Empress of India regularly traversed the trans-Pacific route between the west coast of Canada and Asia until she was sold to the Maharajah of Gwalior in 1914 & renamed in 1915
