Description:
A pair of Chinese Zitan herb/medicine boxes/jewellery cases, each of square section raised on a pierced and carved base. The upper surface of each box outlined and divided into panels with low beading, the panel surfaces variously detailed with square fret or swastika diaper surfaces, each panel enclosing bat and swastika motifs carved in low relief. The walls of each box with five panel fascias, three of which form the fascia of a single drawer, each panel decorated with square fret motif surfaces and each with a small handle issuing from a swastika motif. Each drawer divided into four compartments. 17 cm x 17 cm x 14.5 cm
