A French black marble mantel clock and tazze garniture, 1870s, the dial marked 'Tassus-Couvin, Aumale', the movement by Japy Freres, bell striking, the two-part enamelled ivorine and gilt Arabic numeral dial with exposed Brocot escapement in a drum-head case raised on volutes flanking a glazed panel showing the mercury pendulum, on a moulded plinth base, with gilt metal mounts and variegated marble details throughout, the pair of tazze conforming.
