A near-unique Wedgwood commemorative blue jasperware bowl, 1969, the exterior applied in white relief with a running band of wattle leaves and flowers and a scrolling floral and foliate frieze framing a profile portrait of James Cook to one side and a map of Australia to the other, impressed marks underside. Height 11.5 cm. Diameter: 26 cm, nOTE: this bowl is one of only two made as samples of a proposed edition commemorating the bicentenary of Cook's landing in Australia, production of which did not proceed.
