An important Northern Wei period stone figure of the Preaching Buddha, circa 5th century A. D, the full bodied figure carved in an upright stance with feet exposed beneath the draped and pleated robe, one arm bent with partial hand which once clutched a segment of the gown, the other arm raised with loss to the hand, the motion suggesting a mudra in prayer, further loss to head and toes at base, 178 cm high.
