A monumental pair of 19th century French blackened cast iron figural torcheres, each bearing a plaque inscribed L. Denonvilliers & Fils Maitres de Forges 174, Rue Lafayette, Paris, each cast as a classically draped woman, holding aloft a light, raised on a separate pedestal base, gilt highlights, 306 cm high. Note: Said to have originally been on Blackpool pier, England.
