A rare Chinese root carving of the King of Beggars with two young helpers, well carved with good detail. Qing Dynasty the King has a beautiful smiling face with open mouth revealing fine teeth & furrowed brow below a wreath of decorated cord. Standing on one leg the other muscular leg raised wearing a plaited thong, arms raised, one holding a staff, tunic in layers following the contour of the ancient tree root. An
