Transit, theodolite by Elliot Bros. London. Elliot Bros were the successors to Elliot & Sons. (see page 95 of 'Directory of British Scientific Instrument Makers 1550-1851' by Gloria Clifton). This transit is c1875, the silvered scales on both circles are worn & tarnished, the eyepiece for the telescope is missing, the three bubble levels are intact & all the locking & fine movement screws are in working order, the compass is in good condition with a locking down screw.
