Mid 19th century timber Shipping tools consisting of ships carpenter's mallet, two conical hardwood pins (fids) for rope splicing on sailing ships and 36 inch hickory measuring rod. Rod with Royal symbol VR at both ends, another 'R' symbol, anchor & quantity lines indicate that this rod was used to measure rum barrels on Royal Navy ships.
