Brass compound monocular microscope in a fitted rosewood case. English c1850. Engraved on the flat folding tripod base J.P. Cutts, Sutton & Sons Opticians to her Majesty Sheffield & London, the compound tube screws on to a triangular focussing rack in turn fitted to a tripod base. Ocular and objectives, five ivory slides,a reflecting mirror & associated items. Cutts is listed in 'Directory of British Scientific Instrument Makers 1550-1851' by Gloria Clifton pg 75.
