A small Chinese export blue and white vase and cover, qing Dynasty, Kangxi period (late 17th century), probably salvaged from the Vung Tau cargo, of hexagonal baluster shape with a knopped neck, the facets of the body alternately painted with landscapes and flowering foliage, foliate decoration to the cover, neck, and shoulder, a painted swastika-type mark underside. Height 16.5 cm. Provenance: Almost certainly 'Vung Tau Cargo' sale, Christie's Amsterdam, April 7-8, 1992
