A rare New Zealand colonial woods cutlery canteen box of rectangular form, the hinged lid with a burr totara central panel framed by a burr kauri band and further burr totara with other decorative timber inlays and rewarewa capping, enclosing a fitted tray, the fall-front of conforming New Zealand exotic timbers enclosing a further fitted tray, matching inlays to the sides, thumb moulded edge to the base, raised on compressed spherical bun feet. 52.5 x 41.5 x 25 cm
