A Ballarat made 15ct gold bar link watch chain and fob c1880, in superb condition. The 'T' bar marked 'C Marks' and 15. The clips marked '15ct' and the fob is marked 15. C Marks & Co were retailers and manufacturing Jewellers situated at the corner of Sturt & Lydiard Streets (where Allens Jewellers are today). in the 19th century Marks had a single storey shop which was demolished with much fanfare c1901 to build the multistorey building there today. This item includes a photograph from a rare 19th century C Marks & Co catalogue showing the actual chain for sale
