A very large Maori pre-European adze, large type 1A (Duff), early form, very dark grey-black Metasomatised argillite, well formed tang with curved shoulder, hammerdressed on front, back, sides and butt, but not the poll. Blade flaked only, deep quadrangular cross-section. Length 37 cm, width 9.7 cm, depth 6.3 cm
