An original Kangaroos 1908-09 Australian Rugby League cap. This tour was the debut of the Kangaroos. The first Ashes Test matches were played in 1908-09. Incredibly the 35 Australian players appeared in 43 other matches on tour…This cap of 6 segments has a metal tassel and bears the Kangaroo emblem and the wire embroidered “Australia” & “1908-09”. From the birth of Australian Rugby League – the cap features the colours of the two dominate league states, Queensland and NSW and comprises alternate blue and maroon segments. Assessment: The cap has some fraying to the peak but is in very good condition. The cap has been professionally conserved by the International Conservation Services and is mounted and shadow box framed.
