An Australian silver equestrian trophy cup and cover attributed to J.M Wendt, Adelaide, circa 1885, the ogee body embossed and engraved either side with floriate wreaths and two vacant cartouches, flanked by scroll handles, the stem cast as a tree trunk with applied leafy branches, raised on a naturalistically cast base, the domed cover with a finial cast as a standing horse, lacking maker's mark but hallmarked in two places on the foot with a lion passant, sterling and a Crown, 822grs. Total weight of silver, together with a glass dome and an ebonised stand, the cup on stand 43 cm total height.
