An Australian silver mounted emu egg presentation ink well possibly by Kilpatrick & Co, Melbourne, circa 1880, the egg horizontally mounted upon a silver stem and a blackwood stand, with applied fern fronds and emu finial to cover, centred by a shield inscribed 'Presented to / Mr.James Ewins / for his services / in connection with the / establishment of the / Burnley street / Railway station / East Richmond / 18th Novr. 1880', together with a glass dome and an ebonised stand, the egg 22 cm high including the blackwood base.
