An enamelled rectangular plaque of a scholar with a stone, attributed to Wang Qi (1884 - 1937), 20th century, possibly Republic period, the scholar, wearing long flowing robes, with a humorous smile on his face, pointing at a rock as if it was alive, his other hand holding a scroll behind his back, dated the early winter of the year of Wu Chen (1928), signed Wang Qi, with his seal Qi and Tao Zhai, fitted to a stool. 24 cm x 37 cm. Provenance: Private collection NSW, purchased during late 1950s or early 1960s in Hong Kong. Note: the plaque was fitted to the stool after the purchase
