An enamelled rectangular plaque of a scholar and a boy servant, possibly Republic period, the scholar wearing long flowing robe, holding a bamboo stick, his boy servant in front of him, holding a newly picked branch, the two wandering in a quiet bush, a crane flying about afar, inscribed two verses about scenes of winter, signed Pengnian with seal, framed. 25 cm x 38.5 cm. Provenance: private Collection NSW, purchased during late 1950s or early 1960s in Hong Kong. note: the plaque was taken out of its frame, revealing traces of two rails running in parallel to the unglazed back
