A fine 18th century carved ivory elephant/hunting horn, probably Portuguese, with a mouthpiece at the tip of the horn emerging from fanged jaws of a dog, carved throughout in low relief depicting a wild boar hunt in a wooded landscape, with a European figure on horseback and a pack of dogs attacking the boar whilst two further figures attack with spears, with a hole at either end for a carrying strap, 55 cm long. Provenance: private Collection Sydney. Purchased in the UK in December 1957 for ยท3
