A blue and white vase and four plates, 18th/ 19th century, the vase decorated with antiquities and scholar's implements, the shoulder with symbols of the 'Four arts', namely the zither, chess board, calligraphy and painting, the four plates decorated with antiquities in a landscape with a large flowering peony, the rim encircled by a composite border. Plates,24.5 cm diameter, vase 38. cm high. Provenance: The four plates purchased Christie's decorative arts Sale, October 2011, Amsterdam, sale 2868, lot 456, catalogued as Qianlong (1736 - 1795)
