A bronze ship's bell from 'The Maori', 1868, with cast iron hanger. 'The Maori' was a Union Steamship Company passenger ship built in 1868 and was used by the Company until 1902, the vessel sank at her moorings at Saluafata, Samoa in 1913. The vessel was employed in the coastal trade making monthly trips out of Dunedin calling at various ports around the South Island. Diameter 30 cm, height of bell 24 cm
