Don Bradman Correspondence: c1980-97 an archive of correspondence between Don Bradman and Norm Bevan, Manager for Victoria of the Reserve Bank of Australia. Includes Don Bradman signed letters (20) & Christmas Cards (5); also includes 1984 invitation from Argo Investments to Sir Donald addressing his last shareholders meeting; invitations to have birthday lunch with the Don from 1986-1992. Includes copies of many of Bevan’s letters to Sir Donald, press clippings, magazine articles, and a nice letter from Colin Cowdrey. The majority of the letters on 'Sir Donald Bradman A.C.' letterhead, covering various subjects including Australian economics, family matters & cricket, some of which covered contoversial subjects. Also, a pair of sterling silver serviette rings made by Lady Bradman (with 'Jb' & South Australian hallmarks) for Mr Bevan and mentioned in one of Bradman’s letters. Jessie Bradman studied silver-smithing in later life and these are the only items known to us to have come onto the open market. An unique and long term correspondence, none of which has been previously available.
