An impressive pair of mid-20th century Chinese large carved ivory figures, Emperor and Empress, both with very finely detailed garments depicting dragons, pearls and clouds, he stands holding his long bead necklace, sword to his right hand, long ponytail to his back, she holds a ruyi sceptre, her hair in a formal knotted design, both raised on turned and pierced carved hardwood stands. Height of figures only 275 and 25.5 cm, minor flaw to one finger
