Rare Australian silver tantalus by J M Wendt, with angular swing handle and patent lock, on a stepped base with rope twist bands and three fitted hobnail cut bottles, dedicated: 'To J(ohn) W(hite) Meldrum Esq.r/ from the Australian staff of the Bank of South Australia/ on his Retirement from the Colonial Managership, Adelaide. April 1891. Marks: J.M. Wendt/ Adelaide/ (Crown) (Victoria)(lion passant) and typical circular mark to side ref Jbh no 234 & 236. Loaded weight without bottles: 2800 grams.
