Ballarat Bowling ball club trophy, in lignum vitae insert with a plaque no. 2 and a silver plaque inscribed: Ballaarat/ Bowling club/ residence/ bowls/ 1865/ won by/ John Bryce Esq, with timber stand. Marks: unmarked. Diameter 12 cm. Provenance: private collection. Notes: This item is amongst the earliest recorded 'Silver' items for Ballarat. Refer Jbh Vol I pp337 for a slightly earlier trophy and with the same early spelling of the town name.
