Good silver mounted emu egg presentation inkwell by J M Wendt, surmounted by a single cluster of grapes and leaf cover, leading to the stained egg with insert diorama of a kangaroo and emu in landscape, resting on a natural modelled pillar flanked by a victorious Aboriginal (lacking his spear) over his prey, a kangaroo and twin emus, on a heavily embossed oval base and stepped ebonised plinth having a shield shaped plaque bearing inscription: Presented by the Shareholders/ of the National Building Society/ to/ Gc Shierlaw Esq/ for his services as a Trustee/ for the past twelve years/ Adelaide August 9th 1882.
