Rare pair of cast silver kangaroo paperweights for Drummond & Co, each freestanding and with finely chased fur. Marks: Pure Australian/ Silver/ Drummond/ Melbourne. (misstruck). Height 9.5 cm. Combined weight: 265 grams. Provenance: Vizard Foundation. 2001 Geelong Exhibition no 10. Notes: Drummond & Co were retailers and not manufacturers. John Hawkins proposes that these figures were probably produced by Stokes & Co of Melbourne, which were associated with the silversmith Julius Hogarth.
