Description:
Silver cigarette box by Suhard & Co, of simple rectangular form with a loose cover with applied monogram DH. Marks: Stl/ Suhard & Co/ Silver. Weight: 266 grams; length 10 cm. Provenance: private Collection. Notes: Louis H. Suhard probably of French extraction had arrived in Adelaide by 1878 opening a jewllery shop. His premises were at Gawler place. Louis died in 1904 but his business continued on until about 1959.
